Godmother.
About This Spot
Stepping into Godmother, you’re greeted by a calm yet vibrant setting tucked just steps away from one of Hanoi’s most iconic landmarks. Its large windows open out to a gentle view of the nearby church, inviting natural light to stretch across the airy two-story space. The design blends modern simplicity with touches that feel thoughtfully curated—clean lines, soft lighting, and an open layout create a scene that feels both fresh and welcoming.
The pace here is unhurried, a perfect pause from the hustle of the Old Quarter just beyond the door. Whether you find yourself upstairs or on the spacious ground floor (which is thoughtfully scheduled to maintain a relaxed vibe), there’s a quiet rhythm to the room. Conversations flow easily without overpowering the space, making it a cozy nook that invites lingering over coffee or a late morning meal.
Food at Godmother feels like a gentle discovery. Instead of bold declarations or heavy servings, the flavors are subtle and refined—a delicate citrus note in the pancakes, vibrant salads with a careful balance, and refreshing cocktails that add a playful twist to the relaxed brunch mood. The menu is broad enough to feel inviting without overwhelming, reflecting both familiar favorites and local interpretations that change the story just enough to make the meal memorable. The attentive, friendly service adds to the feeling of being looked after, without ever rushing or crowding.

It’s a spot to rest after exploring the lively streets, sip on thoughtfully crafted drinks, and savor dishes that feel made with care, all while soaking up a slice of Hanoi’s layered charm through its calm, inviting atmosphere.

We visited this restaurant twice and enjoyed it both time’s. The breakfast pancakes were good and they had a little citrus taste that was different. The salad was delicious and the strawberry daiquiris were good too.

This place is decorated very cleanly and beautifully, especially with its location overlooking the church, which creates a comfortable and relaxing atmosphere. The food here is very diverse and presented in a tasteful and modern manner. The staff is very friendly and attentive. Prices are reasonable for the quality of the products. Has two spacious floors, providing ample opportunities for those who enjoy taking photos.

A spacious restaurant next to the church, the main tourist attraction of Hanoi. They have spacious menu for brunch from classic eggs Benedict to traditional Bo Ne (I thought that it’s supposed to be beef steak but in the restaurant’s interpretation it was pork, too greasy to my taste). In general it’s a good place to have a rest with the AC from walking around the Old Quarter.

Super cool vibe! The building is super modern and the inside is beautiful. The service was great and the ambiance was super chill. I really enjoyed this place! It was a nice chill brunch spot to get a good sandwich that was not too filling but the perfect amount! I definitely recommend this place if you want a good bite to eat.

Great atmosphere. Nice and cool inside. I asked to sit on the second floor but this was not allowed - they have times in which the upper floor opens which is a new concept to me. Would be nice if I could have sat upstairs. Staff don’t pay much attention to when you’re ready to order. Other than this they are polite, and kind. They also speak a good amount of English, well done to them for learning another language. Savoury pancakes were good the bacon is very tough to chew, couldn’t cut through it with the knife. Butter was good! Tastes as though something has been infused with it, very nice touch. Avocado toast was average - lacking simple seasonings such as salt and pepper. The garlic black pepper sauce? Did not have much flavour. Beverages are more expensive than most cafe’s. They are of standard quality, not something they specialise in.
